Two People Struck In Separate Incidents While Biking In Athens

ATHENS-The Athens Police Department report two separate incidents of bicyclist being hit in the city:

“On Monday, January 31, 2022, at approximately 5:10 pm, Athens Police Officers responded to the area of US 31 and Vaughn Street. A bicycle had been struck by a vehicle. Jordan Donald Adams (26 of Athens) was struck by a South bound vehicle. Adams had been travelling North in the South bound lanes. Adams was taken to Huntsville Hospital. There is no update on Adams’ condition and this crash remains under investigation.

On Monday, January 31, 2022, at approximately 6:00 pm, Athens Police Officers responded to the area of Forrest Street and Chandler Street. Erik Meals Gordon (39 of Athens) was travelling East bound on Forrest Street on a bicycle and was struck from behind by a truck. Gordon was taken to Huntsville Hospital. There is no update on Gordon’s condition and this crash remains under investigation.”
