THE SHOALS – The time is drawing near for Saturday’s big game at Braly Municipal Stadium between Winston-Salem and Valdosta State. This is the NCAA
Division II National Championship, now in its 26th year at Florence.
Saturday’s game will be the first pairing of the two teams. The Winston-Salem Rams has a perfect 14-0 record this year. The team won the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Conference this year which garnered them their 7th playoff berth. If the Rams win Saturrday’s game over Valdosta State, it will be only the 5th team to win a championship with a perfect 15-0 record.
The Valdosta State Blazers has an 11-2 record going into the Championship Game. In 2007 the team won the Division II Championship at Braly stadium by defeating Northwest Missouri State 25-20. A powerhouse team, they also won in 2004 over Pittsburg State, and played, but lost, in 2002 against Grand Valley State University.
It should be a great contest. Kickoff is set for 12 Noon, Florence time.
