Three Arrests Made Over Weekend By Athens Police; Both involve Shots fired

ATHENS-Athens Police chief Floyd Johnson reports on three incidents that occurred in Athens last few days, April 8 through 13:

“Sunday night, April 11, shortly before 11:00 the police department received a call of shots fired at the Marathon on US 72 at the Hines Street intersection.

When officers arrived they were told several people had an altercation and a male pulled a pistol and shot 5 times. One of the shots struck a twenty year old male in his leg. There were also two different cars in the parking lot hit at the same time. The victim was treated at Athens Limestone Hospital.

Currently we believe this incident was over a acquaintance of the suspect. Investigators developed Chnchez Deion Summers as a suspect in the case. He was arrested yesterday afternoon and charged with assault first degree. He was booked at the police department and transferred to the county jail. The investigation into this case is continuing.”

“Isaac James Authur Brown was arrested on a warrant yesterday for discharging a firearm into an unoccupied vehicle.

The incident took place on April 8, 2021 at 5th Avenue Apartments.  Brown was arrested that night for domestic violence 3rd, menacing, attempted to elude a police officer and reckless endangerment. Brown threatened his mother and then Brown’s brother hit him. Brown went outside and shot his brother’s car. When officers arrived brown pointed his gun at officers and then ran. He was arrested a short time later. Brown was booked at the police department and transferred to the county jail.”

“Brandon Keith Adams was arrested Tuesday, April 13 by investigator  Jarod Smith on two counts of burglary third degree and one count of burglary second degree.

Adams entered a storage shed and a vehicle on Forest Street then entered into a residence on Winston Drive finally entered a shed on French Way. On Winston he took a purse and on French Way he took a backpack. All the burglaries occurred late Saturday night of earley Sunday Morning. Adams was booked at the police department and transferred to the county jail”.
