Two Arrested On Drug Charges In Morgan County

HARTSELLE-A routine traffic stop on Tuesday, March 24th resulted in the arrest of two suspects on drug charges.  Here is how Sheriff Ana Franklin describes the events leading up to the arrests:

“On Tuesday, March 24, 2015, Morgan County Drug Task Force Agents stopped a vehicle in Hartselle after observing that the occupants were not wearing a seat belt. Agents obtained consent to search the vehicle and discovered two boxes of cold medicine containing pseudoephedrine. Agents checked the state database that tracks the sale of pseudoephedrine and discovered that both subjects, Christopher Bird, 22, and Kara Nicole Ratliff,22, both from Blountsville, just bought the pills at Walgreen’s in

Hartselle. Agents discovered that the subjects had brought their 7-month child with them. The subjects admitted that they were taking the boxes back to Blount County to sell them to local meth cooks.
Morgan County DHR was called to take the child. The child was placed in a safety plan coordinated by DHR. Both subjects were charged with Unlawful Manufacture of a Controlled Substance 2nd.
Bonds are set at $5000.00. Bird is on probation in Blount County for theft and it will be revoked. Both subjects were taken to the Morgan County Jail.”
