DECATUR-The Decatur Police Department made an arrest in a stolen vehicle case from August 23. Here is a statement from the Decatur Police Department:
“SYNOPSIS OF OFFENSE & ARREST:
On 08/23/15 a resident parked her vehicle in the parking lot of Wal-Mart located on 6th Ave. in Decatur to rent a movie from the Red Box that is located outside of the business. The victim left her key in her vehicle.
James Hoyt Powell III and his girlfriend, Crystal Huffman were captured on video taking the victim’s vehicle. They were arrested for theft of Property in the 1st degree on 9/22/2015.
While Powell had the vehicle he traded it to James Ricketts. Ricketts had knowledge that the vehicle was stolen and traded it to Amber Knight’s husband who were both told the vehicle was stolen at the time it was traded to them.
A warrant was obtained for Amber Knight and James Ricketts on 10/14/15 for the charge of Receiving stolen Property in the 2nd Degree. Ricketts and Knight were both inmates at the Morgan Co. Jail on unrelated charges at the time the warrants for their arrest were obtained. The warrants were served on both Knight and Ricketts on 10/15/15.
They were later transferred back to the Morgan Co. Jail in lieu of a $2,500.00 bond each.
There is currently an active warrant for the arrest of Amber Knight’s husband Joseph Knight in the City of Decatur for the charge of Receiving Stolen Property in the 2nd Degree. Joseph Knight is still at large.
Det. Sparks has recovered the victim’s vehicle.”
