TVA Issues Vital River Elevations for Flood-Prone Cities

TENNESSEE VALLEY-Rainfall totals this week have ranged from 2-6 in., with central Valley receiving the majority of the rain. More rain is on the way with an additional 1-2 in. expected to fall between now and tomorrow afternoon. Over the weekend the rain is expected to decrease, but heavy rainfall is predicted starting again next week. Our River Operations engineers and plant techs are working around the clock to manage the high flows on the river.

If you live or work on the water, keep an eye out for rapid water level increases on the Tennessee River and its tributaries. We are working hard to move water through the system to prepare for the next rain event.

Knowing river elevations and crests during floods can be crucial for anyone living near or navigating the Tennessee River or its tributaries. Below are observed and predicted midnight elevations at selected riverside cities for today and the next three days:
