TUPELO-A reward offered for information on a bank robber who killed a Mississippi police officer increased to $162,500 on Tuesday, a day after the 38-year-old officer was shot dead and his partner was critically injured.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Tupelo for Officer Kevin “Gale’ Stauffer, 38 who was killed in the BancorpSouth robbery.
The suspect, 5-foot-9 to 6-feet tall and thin, was wearing a ski mask, khaki pants, white Converse-type shoes and a long-sleeve shirt or jacket with an Aztec design when he shot Tupelo, Miss., police Cpl. Gale Stauffer at about 3 p.m. Monday a couple of blocks from the bank as the officer responded to the robbery. He remained at large Tuesday evening, and others also may be involved in the crime.
