Truman Kent Crandall – Obituary

RandallTruman Kent Crandall, 81, of Sheffield, died April 13, 2013. His family will receive friends, Friday, April 19, 2013 at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia from 5:00 pm until 6:00 pm. His memorial service will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Bill Bedsole officiating.

Mr. Crandall was born April 6, 1932 in Okmulgee, OK.

He served 4 years as an Aviation Electronics Technician Airman in the U.S. Navy (tour in the Philippines, stationed in San Diego, CA) and was honorably discharged in 1955. He was a member of VFW Post 4919.

He received his Bachelor’s degrees in Chemistry and Biology from the University of North Alabama, class of 1969.

He worked at TVA as a Chemist for the International Fertilizer Development Center; member of the American Chemical Society. He retired in 1987.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Sheffield, AL for over 40 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George & Evelyn Hardy Crandall; father- & mother-in law, George & Irene Forester Kenner; brother, Keith Crandall; brother-in-law, Lee Flanigan; and sister-in-law, Mary Crandall.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; brother, Lloyd Crandall (Helen); sister, Janis Crandall Flanigan; sister-in-law, Janet Crandall; sons, James Crandall (Georgia) and John Crandall; daughter, Katherine Crandall Evans (Tony); grandchildren, Mary Crandall Warren (Curtis), Margaret Crandall, Michael Crandall (Shaeleigh), Casey Evans, Irene Crandall, Zachary Evans, Patricia Jane Crandall; and great-grandchildren, Olivia & Connor Warren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the carpentry program at Northwest Shoals Community College.
