Troy Odas Coan – Obituary

Troy Odas Coan, of Ford City, Alabama, died peacefully on April 14, 2017. He was born on February 7, 1928 and was 89 years old. He was married to the former Joanne Weems for 49 years, who preceded him in death.

The visitation will be Monday, April 17th from 11:30 to 1:00 pm. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Mark Mayfield will be officiating. Interment will be at Glendale Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be grandsons; Dustin Coan and Jeremy Coan, Frank Crosswhite, John Flanagan, Ryan Keenum, Clark McCormack, Gene Brown, Blake McCormack. Charles Frost will serve as honorary pallbearer.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne Coan; parents, Joe Mack and Minnie Mae Coan; siblings, Norene Allen, Mary Etta Looney, and Theron Coan.

Troy was a 1948 graduate of Colbert County High School. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army where he played forward on the Army’s undefeated basketball team. He retired from Ford Motor Company in 1983. He loved working, gardening, and tending to his grape vineyard.

Survivors include his sons, Bradley Coan (Julie) and Bryan Coan (Tammy); brothers, Earl Coan, Gaither Coan, and Buddy Ray Coan; grandchildren, Ashley Keenum (Ryan), Jeremy Coan (Jody), Dustin Coan and Michaela Coan; great-grand-daughters, Rylie and Rainey Keenum.
