Trinity Woman Being Held On Child Abuse Charges In Death Of Her Child; Charges Could Be upgraded To Murder

LAWRENCE COUNTY-On April 11 the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call.  After meeting the mother of a Lawrence County 16-month-old boy at the county line the child was transported to Children’s Hospital in Birmingham.

The child died in hospital in Birmingham and the mother of the child, Jordan Ellen Harmon, 26 of Trinity has been arrested.  According to investigators she has been  accused of aggravated child abuse in the April 12 death of her child. Harmon was arrested on Monday, April 12.

Special agents with the State Bureau of Investigation are assisting in on-going investigations, the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office said. Other charges are expected as this case is being investigated as a homicide.
