DECATUR-The Decatur Police Department’s Anti-Crime Unit and Organized Crime Unit made a routine traffic stop that resulted in the arrest of one man:
“SYNOPSIS OF OFFENSE & ARREST:
On July 13, 2015, members of the Decatur Police Department’s Anti-Crime Unit and Organized Crime Unit were patrolling in the area of Somerville Rd SE. Officer’s conducted a traffic stop on a silver Chevrolet Cavalier on Gordon Dr at 4th St SW for a traffic violation (No Turn Signals).
Officer’s made contact with the occupants of the vehicle. During the course of the investigation, the front seat passenger was identified as Timotheus Tyree Mason.
Mason was found to be in the possession of a large quantity of Synthetic Cannabinoids (Spice), prescription medication (Controlled Substance) without a valid prescription, a loaded firearm, and drug sale paraphernalia. Mason was placed under arrest and transported to the Decatur City Jail.
It was discovered that Mason had a previous conviction for Robbery 2nd Degree and he is prohibited from possessing a firearm. Mason was charged with Trafficking in Synthetic Controlled Substance Analogs, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Certain Persons Forbidden to Possess a Pistol, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Mason will later be transferred to the Morgan County Jail in lieu of a $10,500.00 bond.”
