DECATUR-A traffic stop by members of the Decatur Police Department’s Anti-Crime Unit resulted in more than traffic violations. Here is how the Decatur Police describe this routine traffic stop:
“On November 5, 2014, at approximately 1545hrs, members of the Decatur Police Department’s Anti-Crime Unit were patrolling in the area of Gordon Dr and 6th Ave SE. Officer Michael Kitchens conducted a traffic stop for a traffic violation (Multiple / Improper Lanes).
During the course of the investigation, Officer Kitchens identified the front seat passenger as Stephen Horace Britt. Britt was found to be in the possession of a quantity of methamphetamine (ICE). The rear driver side passenger was identified as Matthew Joseph Meredith. Meredith was found to be in the possession of a quantity of methamphetamine (ICE), marijuana, drug use paraphernalia. The other rear seat passenger was identified as Stacey Louanne Briscoe. Briscoe was found to be in the possession of a quantity of drug paraphernalia. All three subjects were placed under arrest and transported to the Decatur City Jail where they were processed in.
Britt was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance. Britt will later be transferred to the Morgan County Jail in lieu of a $2,500.00 bond.
Meredith was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Meredith will later be transferred to the Morgan County Jail in lieu of a $3,500.00 bond.
Brisco was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Brisco will remain in the Decatur City Jail in lieu of a $500.00 “bond.
