Tony Woods was born in Humphreys County, Tennessee on May 3, 1940, to Marie and Ed Woods. He spent most of his life in the Humboldt/Jackson area.
He worked hard all of his life. Many times, working more than one job at a time. His main employment was a sales route position with Colonial Baking Company. After his retirement he worked 10 years for Tire Distributors in Humboldt.
Tony was a dedicated Christian who loved the Lord. As a deacon at Campbell Street church of Christ, he worked as a servant helping the elder members. He had a tender heart and quietly helped many.
Tony was an avid NASCAR fan; he especially enjoyed pulling for Dale Earnhart. He loved adventure and rode four wheelers in the mountains of East Tennessee, Kentucky, and Virginia. He would easily keep up with his dear friends half his age.
Tony leaves his wife Ann Woods of 28 years of marriage. One daughter, Kim Cupples and husband Bill, a son Freddy Woods and wife Diana, two stepsons Steve Taylor and wife Melissa, Mitch Taylor and wife Amy, one stepdaughter, Janet Webb and husband Ty, seven grandchildren Ashleigh Woods, Brandy Dexter, Taylor Cupples, Aaron Webb, Andrew Webb, Sarah Webb Cole, Madison Taylor Merritt, Morgan Taylor Gaither, Hudson Taylor and Emery Taylor, two great grandchildren Dillion Gordon and Taylor Gordon.
Tony was a sweet caring man who positively touched the lives of so many. Truly a great man, humble and selfless. He will be strongly missed.
SERVICES: Funeral service will be held Sunday, August 21, 2022, at 3:00PM at North Jackson church of Christ. The family will be receiving friends from 1:00PM until service time at 3:00PM at the church. Private burial will follow at Rosehill Cemetery.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be directed to Nicaragua Christian School, C/O Campbell Street church of Christ, 1490 Campbell street, Jackson, TN 38305, or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
