Mr. Tony Waldrop, age 53 of Ashland, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at Clay County Hospital. Per the family’s request, there are no services planned at this time.

Born in Clay County, Tony lived most of his life in Ashland and spent a few years in Sylacauga. He was a Bibb Graves High School graduate of the class 1985. Mr. Waldrop worked at Madix, Inc. in Goodwater for 18 years in sheet metal manufacturing. He loved being outdoors, especially fishing and in the woods. Tony loved his Kawasaki Vulcan 800, playing pool, mudriding and Alabama football. He was a beloved father, son and grandfather that loved his family more than anything else.

He is survived by his son, Brandon Waldrop (fiancé, Johnney) of Ashland; his daughter, Kela Gillilan (Zach) of Sylacauga; his parents, James and Geraldine Waldrop of Ashland; five grandchildren: Ansleigh and Harleigh Waldrop; Leelan and Elijah Gillilan; and Jayden King; and extended family.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Jack and Mertis Smith; and Jace and Evelyn Waldrop.

Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland is in charge of the arrangements.
