Tony LaMacchia – Obituary

Tony LaMacchia, 83, passed away November 5, 2017. Tony was born in Syracuse New York on February 3, 1934 on one of the coldest nights of the century. It was 23 degrees below zero.

He was the son of Bartolo LaMacchia and Carmela Terminella LaMacchia.

Tony graduated from the State University of New York at Brockport with a baccalaureate in Education and then continued with a Masters and Doctorate in Mathematics from Syracuse University. Tony taught Mathematics at West Winfield High school in West Winfield, New York and briefly taught Mathematics at Syracuse University. Tony worked as a Mathematical engineer at General Electric In Syracuse, NY and also at Syracuse University Research Corporation. Tony later went out on his own and worked as a Systems Analyst Consultant.

After retiring in 1997, Tony and his wife, JoAnne, left the cold and snow of Central New York for the mild climate of Huntsville, Alabama. To keep busy, Tony spent his retirement refurbishing and rehabilitating run down homes in the Huntsville area.

Tony is survived by his loving wife JoAnne Gaffney LaMacchia; two sisters Josephine Borregine (Salvatore); Mary Smith (Jerry) and one brother Emanuel LaMacchia (Mary Kay). Tony is also survived by his son Anthony LaMacchia Jr. (Jana) of Urbana, Ohio; daughters Susan LaMacchia Natoli of Syracuse, New York and Rebecca Wolber of Huntsville. Tony had six grandchildren, Anthony LaMacchia III, Julia LaMacchia, Morgan Natoli, Blythe Rudloff and her husband Brian, Meredith Kwiatkowski , Matthew Kwiatkowski and several nieces and nephews. The Visitation for Tony will be held at 10:00 am to be followed by the Memorial service at 11:00 am November 18th at St. Mary of the Visitation Church, 222 Jefferson St. N, Huntsville , Alabama 35801. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local animal rescues.
