Tommy Ray Sanders, age 53, of Sheffield (formerly of Russellville) passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at Huntsville Hospital.
Tommy was an avid Alabama fan and loved to be outdoors to hunt or fish. He enjoyed his time as a taxi driver, meeting new people and making new friends. He loved all types of music and was an expert air guitar and drums player.
Tommy is survived by his wife, Jessica Daugherty; children, Justin Pratt (Peighton), Shonta Daugherty, Noah Daugherty (Madison); two other sons; grandchildren, Ka’Myah, Jayden, Payton, Aspyn, grandbaby soon to arrive; father, Tommy Earl Sanders; sister,
Tammy Sanders and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death his mother, Hugh Dale (Pounders) Sanders, and sister, Beverly “Skeeter” Davis.
The visitation will be 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Spry Memorial Chapel. The service will follow at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel. The burial will be at Knights of Pythias Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Noah Daugherty, Joe Mansell, Shannon Oliver, Robbie Herston, and Joey McCalpin.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff of Helen Keller and Huntsville Hospitals for their love and care.
