Tommy Eugene Horton, 65 years of age, passed from this life to the next on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at his home in Mantachie, MS. Tommy was born November 15, 1951 in Memphis, TN to the late Alton Edgar “Jack” Horton and Opal Earlene (Parker) Horton. He had one sister, Opal Virginia Nanney of Mantachie. He was a longtime resident of Tupelo, MS and Mantachie, MS. Tommy married his sweetheart, Peggy Lynn Bell, in 1970 and three children sprang from that union. Tommy was a hard-working man, just like his father, Jack. He worked for many years as the parts manager at Tupelo Tractor Sales. Later in life, he opened his own tractor business, TH&S Tractors, in Mantachie, MS. This moved his family from Tupelo to Mantachie and later led to other business ventures, including Horton Factory Outlet in Mantachie, and T&P Auction in Eggville, MS, where he also honed his skills as an auctioneer. Early in life, he developed a love for working on antique cars and riding motorcycles with his sons. He was a loving father who always tried to do his best for his boys. Tommy was always quick to bring a smile to those around him with his constant joking attitude. He enjoyed getting visits from his family and friends and always hated to see them leave. His favorite pastime was spending time with his little buddy, grandson Gavin. Tommy was saved and baptized in 2013 and became a member of Boguefala Baptist Church in Mooreville, MS. He enjoyed being a part of the congregation there whenever his health would allow him to attend. He especially loved attending gospel singings.

A service celebrating his life will be held at 4 PM Friday, Sept. 1, 2017 at Boguefala Baptist Church in Mooreville with Bro. David Perry and Bro. Royce Hankins officiating. Private burial will follow in the Union Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 PM-8PM today at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo Chapel and from 2 PM-service time Friday at Boguefala Baptist Church.
