Tommy “Chigger” Parrish, died Saturday, May 7, 2016, at his residence in Killen, Alabama.

A memorial service will be held in his honor on Saturday, June 11, 2016, at Wilson Park in Florence, Alabama from 10 AM to 11 AM.

Tommy had a voracious love for music from days in the Coffee High School Band, as well as the U.N.A. and Army Bands. His work has spanned a wide range of the music field. His most active time as a musician came during the “Big Band” Era when he had his own band. Later, he took on many different areas such as: a musician, arranger, band leader, record producer, promoter, agent, manager, club owner, music publisher, record company president, and internet music retailer.

Mr. Parrish was preceded in death by parents, Lucian and Eutra G. Parrish; brothers, James W. Parrish and Johnny Word Parrish; sister, Vera Jo Carlton.

Mr. Parrish is survived by his son, Jonathan Anning (Amy) of Slippery Rock, PA; grandchildren, Timothy and Matthew Anning; brother, Virgil Parrish (Sylvia) of Jackson, Mississippi; several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Memorial donations are requested in lieu of flowers to the following: Coffee High School Scholarship fund; UNA Music Department; Alabama Music Hall of Fame.
