Sheffield native Tommy Barnes signed qualifying papers to run for Congressman, District 4 in Alabama today.  Here is his mission statement:

“As of today, with the formal registering of my Campaign, I am running against Robert Aderholt for Congress, District 4 of

Tommy Barnes

Alabama. For far too long, the Citizens of our District have not had a powerful advocate who will bring their voices and concerns to Washington.

District 4 has not had an energetic and creative champion with meaningful plans for infrastructure; healthcare; environmental engineering; safety; or items that desperately need improvement in many, many critical areas such as increased energy production; along with the creation of meaningful and high paying jobs that a effective Member of the United States House of Representatives should be able to garner. In my humble opinion, my competitor, after nearly 28 years in office, has done far too little for far too long.

We can do better! I humbly submit that my years of working in the Public Sector, a proven candidate as County Commissioner; an enthusiastic and accomplished chemical engineering graduate with industry and public works give me the expertise to bring to our District a brighter future.

The people want term limits, and if elected to intend to introduce them.

It is time to be a public servant to everyone! And that means everyone! I don’t see Red or Blue when deciding what’s best for our District. I see Red, White, and Blue. God bless you. God bless Alabama. And God bless America!”
