Tommie Sue DeBerry Murley – Obituary

Tommie Sue DeBerry Murley age 84 passed away Tuesday morning, April 26, 2016 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

She was born June 22, 1931 in Chester County, the daughter of the late Joe Clint and Gracie Hearn DeBerry. She went to school in Chester County and graduated Chester County High School in 1949. She was married to Hill McAlister ‘Mack’ Murley in 1949. They made their home in Peoria, IL where Mr. Murley worked for Caterpillar and she worked for the telephone company as an operator. They moved to Chester County in 1970 and she worked for South Central Bell in Jackson as an operator. She retired in 1985 and they continued to make their home in Chester County. She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church.

Mrs. Murley is survived by a son, Michael A. Murley of Henderson; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Hill McAlister ‘Mack’ Murley in 2007; a brother, Joe C. ‘Jack’ DeBerry and two sisters, Frances Braly and Virginia Middleton.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday April 29, 2016 at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with David Tull officiating. Burial will follow in Cave Springs Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Thursday.
