Toby Gene Henderson, age 77 of Double Springs, passed away June 09, 2026 at his residence. He was born April 19, 1949 to Benton and Vinia Henderson. Toby grew up riding horses and being mischievous, if you know Toby you know what I mean. He started varsity football in the 8th grade and because you could only play varsity sports 4 years he left school after his Jr. Year. Toby served in the National Guard for 1969 to 1975 where he made Sergeant in the Rifle division. Toby had a passion for the outdoors, fishing and hunting. He played a lot of men league softball and basketball. Being a lifelong bachelor, because he didn’t like anyone telling him what to do. Toby created a passion for4-wheel drives and race cars. He worked alongside his brother Parnell and a host of nephews, brothers, in-laws, cousins and lifelong friends building about anything from chicken houses to residential homes. When he retired, he enjoyed cutting, raking and baling hay. Even though he was tough around the edges he was a baptized Christian and a man of God. Visitation will be Saturday, June 13, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Fairview Baptist Church in Double Springs, where the service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery. Brother Benny Knight and Jonathan Henderson will officiate. Toby is survived by his brother, Parnell Henderson; nieces and nephews, Boyd (Regina) Henderson, Bonnie (Ben) Knight, Bradley (Jennifer) Henderson, Bentley (Debbie) Henderson, James Allen (Lavon) Pruitt, Taffy (Chuck) Myers, Marola (Steve) Fields. Beverly (Jerry) Strickland and Lisa Compton; and a host of great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Tom J. and Hollie Henderson and William G. and Martha Pearson; parents.
