Mrs. Tina Lorraine MasonTina Lorraine Simmons Mason was born March 21, 1968 in Chicago, IL to the late Mary Frances Simmons.  She was the eldest of three children. Later on, she was raised by her late grandmother, Clara Simmons. She married the love of her life, Tyree Mason Sr., on September 21, 2001. Together, they raised three sons. Surrounded by love ones, Tina made a peaceful transition from this life on July 16, 2023.

Tina accepted Jesus Christ at an early age. Upon moving to Huntsville, AL in 2013, she and Tyree united with the New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, Harvest, AL, under the leadership of Pastor Ricky L. Sykes. She served as a member of the adult choir and Sisters on a Mission. Tina was one of the choir directors for the youth choir and also one of the adult advisors for the youth program.

She attended the elementary, middle, and high schools in Chicago, IL. In 1986, Tina graduated from Collins High School.  In June 2020, she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology from Strayer College, Huntsville, AL.

Tina loved her family, which included Mista Chubbs (her pet dog). Her Sunday dinners were “off the chain”.  She had an infectious smile and made everyone who came into contact with her feel special.

Tina is now resting in the arms of Jesus.  Besides her mother and grandmother, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Titus Mason. Those who will forever cherish her memory are: her loving and devoted husband, Tyree Sr.; sons:  Tyree Jr.,  Damon and Dominique Mason, all of  Chicago, IL; grand-children:  Tyree III, Rashon, Za’Niya, and Ka’Miya Mason, all of Chicago, IL and Chante Mason of Phoenix, AZ; brother:  John Simmons of Augusta, GA; sister: Cheryl Simmons  Butler of Columbus, GA; brother-in-law:  Joseph Phillips of Chicago, IL; sister-in-law:  Joan Phillips of Chicago, IL; uncle:  Leroy Simmons of Florida; devoted friends:  Kandy Jarrett, Vivian Anderson, Earline Gardner, and Rev. D. J. and Angela Glover; and a host of nephews, nieces, and other relatives and friends.

 

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 29, 2023, at the New Jerusalem Baptist Church (2562 Bob Wade Lane Harvest, AL 35749) with Pastor Ricky L. Sykes officiating. Mrs. Mason will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.

Public viewing will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Friday, July 28, 2023, and 9:00 until 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 29, 2023, at the Royal Funeral Home.
