Funeral Services for Mr. Tillman Griffin “Tilly” Lacy, age 80 of Delta, on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at Blacks Chapel Independent Methodist Church at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Frank Rasbury and Rev. David Holcombe officiating. Burial will follow at the adjoining cemetery.
Mr. Lacy passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at UAB Hospital. He was born and raised in Clay County, was a graduate of Lineville High School and attended college for 4 years. He worked as a railroad engineer for Amtrack and Southern for over 30 years. He also was a cabinet maker in his spare time. Mr. Lacy enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as gardening. He was described as a hardworking and bossy man, but was a caring Father and Grandfather.
Mr. Lacy is survived by two sons: James Blaine Lacy (Shannon) of Delta and John Bradley Lacy (Dana) of Lineville; five grandchildren: Colten Lacy (Sara), Blair Lacy (Gabby), Brock Lacy, Hunter Lacy, and Caden Lacy; three great-grandchildren: Thomas lacy, Natalie Lacy, and one on the way, Griffin Lacy, plus other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Etoil Patterson “Pat” Miller; his father, James P. Hester; and step-father, Bill Miller.
Active Pallbearers will be Jim Wakefield, Chris Wakefield, Wayne Lybrand, Mark Rooks, Phillip “Moho” Graben, and Rayford Daugherty.
His visitation will take place on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville from 5:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. He will lie in state for one hour on Sunday, November 19, 2023 from 1:00 P.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to St. Jude Hospital.
