Thomas Wayne Burton I, age 77, a resident of Smithville, Tennessee, passed away Thursday, July 7th, 2022, at St. Thomas Ascension Rutherford in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on February 12, 1945, in Detroit, Michigan, Thomas, also known as “Pops,” was the son of the late Chester Clark Burton and the late Matilda Victoria Fitz. He was a carpenter by trade. Thomas was a simple, easy-going man, who loved generously.
Thomas is survived by his daughters, Taunya (Jim) Hammonds and Tamara (Jim) S. Rice, siblings, Jerry, Elwood, Kevin, Teddy, Ric, John, Lena, Mary, Linda, and Nanci, former son-in-law, Eddie Rice, eight granddaughters, three grandsons, five great granddaughters, five great grandsons, with one on the way.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Lynn K. Olszewski, son, Thomas W. Burton II, brothers, Jimmy and Randy and sister, Judy.
