Mr. Thomas “Travis” Averette, age 65, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at Glen Haven N.H. Graveside services for Mr. Averette will be on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Spring Hill Cemetery located at 630 Spring Hill Rd, Greensboro, Al. 36744. Norwood-Wyatt Chapel will be directing the service. Brother Ray Hallman will be officiating the service.
Born on June 7, 1961, Travis grew up in Duncanville, Alabama, a place he always treasured as the “old home place.” Mr. Averette was the ultimate family connector, constantly calling loved ones to share family news and birthday reminders. He loved riding dune buggies with family and friends and cheering for Alabama Football. He also enjoyed playing pool with buddies over the years and was very good at the game. Travis’s family kept him happily spoiled rotten. His brother, Charles “Elester” Averette, was his devoted caregiver for 38 years, serving him with immense patience and love. His sisters, alongside his nieces Kay and Rhonya, have also been assisting with his care and support for the last two and a half years.
Thomas is preceded in death by his parents; John Ander and Lillie Averette, sisters; Janey Averette and Judy Cedatol, brothers; Elevester Averette and Billy Jones Averette, and grandparents; Tom and Vallie Averette and Luther and Lula Perkins.
Travis is survived by his children; Tiffany Averette and Thomas “Brad” Averette Jr., brother; Charles “Elester” Averette, sisters; Betty Ruth Fikes and Gayvon Lee (Spencer)., grandchildren; Hunter, Nicholas Dean, Madison Averette, Taylor Averette, Hannah Averette, Heidi Averette, great-grandchildren; Wylder Drake, Maven Hunter, and Presleigh Averette as well as many dearly beloved family members and friends.
Pallbearers will be Charles Averette, Ricky Averette, Lawson Averette, Cameron Averette, Frank Marcum, and Alan Page.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Deborah Causey, Steve Causey, as well as the staff at Glen Haven Amedisys Hospice Care, all of whom made a difference in his life.
