Tommy Eskridge Mr. Thomas “Tommy” James Eskridge, Jr., age 74, of Vernon, AL, passed away Friday, February 5, 2021, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus.

Mr. Eskridge was born December 15, 1946, in Columbus, MS, to the late T.J. Eskridge, Sr. and Adine Honnoll Eskridge.  He served in the National Guard, and owned and operated Eskridge Trucking Company for a number of years.  Mr. Eskridge served on the Vernon City Council for a number of years and served as mayor for two years.  He was a member of the Vernon First United Methodist Church.  He was preceded in death by his daughter, Amber Hattaway; his parents; his sister, Merry Rogers; and his grandparents, Birdie and Dell Honnoll, and Sam and Maggie Eskridge.

Funeral services will be Sunday, at 3:00 PM, at the First United Methodist Church, with Ricky McGee and Gene Lankford officiating.  Burial will follow at Vernon City Cemetery.  Visitation will be 1:00-3:00 at the church prior to the service.

Active pallbearers will be Jerome Bradford, Chad Rogers, Chris Rogers, Edwin Collins, Joseph Burnett, Anthony Burnett, Rob Martin, and Chris Weaver.  Honorary pallbearers will be Mac Mayers, Eddie Collins, Dr. Davis, Randy Rogers, James Rogers, Carl Ray Woods, Mike Gideon, Mike Cole, Wayne Robinson, and all Eskridge employees.

Survivors include his wife, Connie Eskridge, of Vernon, AL; two sons, Little Tommy (Leigh Ann) Eskridge and Jerry McIntosh, both of Vernon, AL; two daughters, Amanda (Ben) Maddox and Eve McIntosh, both of Vernon, AL; his son-in-law, Jason Hattaway; one sister, Joyce Anne (Carl Ray) Woods, of Vernon, AL; his brother-in-law, James Rogers; nine grandchildren, T.J. Eskridge, Ty Eskridge, Trey (Holley) Maddox, Adam Maddox, Mason Maddox, Olivia Hattaway, Annslee Hattaway, Nico Marcello, and Saige McIntosh; and his nieces, nephews, and close friends.
