  Obituary of Tommy JohnsonThomas (Tommy) Hugh Johnson of Corinth, Mississippi passed away at age 80 on December 6, 2022, at Magnolia Regional Health Center.

Tommy was born in Ruleville, Mississippi on July 30, 1942, to Willie Hugh and Annie Frances Johnson. After Tommy graduated from Ruleville High School, he went on to study at Delta State University, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in history.

In 1964, Tommy started his first job in Turrell, Arkansas as a history teacher and basketball coach. Here he met Brenda Johnson, and the two married and moved to Mississippi in 1965. Soon thereafter, the couple was blessed with three sons, Brian Brad, and Chad Johnson. In 1975, Tommy obtained his master’s degree in educational administration. He went on to be an administrator at Humphreys County School and headmaster at Humphreys Academy.

In 2003, Tommy retired from a successful 40-year career as an educator. Post retirement, Tommy spent his time hunting, fishing, gardening, loving his family, and supporting his local church. Tommy was a member of Wheeler Grove Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as a deacon.

Tommy is survived by his wife, Brenda Johnson; sons, Brian Johnson and wife Tami Johnson of Selmer, TN, Brad Johnson of Jackson, MS, and Chad Johnson of New York, NY; and grandchildren, Henley, Brantley, Hayes, and Holland Johnson.

Visitation and services to celebrate the life of Tommy will be held on Thursday, December 8th at Wheeler Grove Baptist Church. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM, services at 1:00pm, and burial services to follow in the Wheeler Grove Cemetery. Services will be officiated by Bro. Kara Blackard and Bro. Josh Westmoreland.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in the memory of Tommy Johnson to Gideon’s International and Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Online condolences can be left at www.MemorialCorinth.com.
