Thomas “Tom” Jefferson Sloan Jr., 81, passed peacefully from his earthly life on March 8, 2016. A memorial service for Tom will be held Saturday, March 12, 11 a.m., at Cross Point church of Christ adult center. Mark Sain will officiate.
Tom leaves behind Patsy Griffin Sloan, his wife of 31 years; sons, Tom Sloan, Atoka, Tennessee, and David (Tonya) Sloan, Bartlett, Tennessee; daughters, Karen (Larry) Hawkins, Memphis, Tennessee, and Donna (Paul) Williams, Millington, Tennessee; stepson, Bill (Janet) Griffin, Florence, Alabama; stepdaughters, Beth (Ricky) Bee, Florence, Alabama, Perri (Steve) Denton, Acworth, Georgia, and Rochelle Warren, Florence, Alabama; seven grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
Tom retired as a machinist from Smith & Nephew, Memphis, Tennessee.
Tom loved fishing, going to Tunica, cowboy movies, word search puzzles, honey buns and RC cola and a good cup of black coffee with ANY dessert offered.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Tom’s doctors and ECM hospital staff and nurses for the care and compassion they extended during Tom’s short illness.
