Thomas “Tom” Blaxton – Obituary

Graveside service for Thomas “Tom” Blaxton, age 84, of Decatur, will be Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2017, at 4 p.m. at Decatur City Cemetery with Dr. Rev. Todd Evans officiating and Shelton Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Blaxton, who died Friday, Aug. 4, 2017 at his residence, was born Jan. 9, 1933 in Lawrence County to Dillard Blaxton and Annie Mae Timms Blaxton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Pack Blaxton; daughter, Pat Blaxton Byrd; son, Byron Keith Blaxton; parents; sister, Jewel Blaxton; and brother, Junior Blaxton.

He is survived by his daughter, Sandy Stephenson (Randy), of Decatur; and one grandson, David Stephenson, of Decatur. Mr. Blaxton was retired from South Central Bell after 30 years, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Pallbearers will be David Stephenson, Buddy Wade, Jimmy Moore, Ray Russell, Curtis Nunn, and J.J. Speegle.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley, P.O. Box 2745, Decatur, AL 35602.
