Thomas “Sherrill” Hambley, age 91 of Dora, formerly from Adamsville and Sandusky, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2025. He was born May 30,1934 to John and Annie Hambley of Sandusky. He graduated from Minor High School in 1954, then served in the U.S. Army. Sherrill was retired from the City of Homewood where he served in Public Works for over 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers, Raymond “Tootie” and David “Peanut” Hambley.
He is survived by his wife of 58 Years, Katherine “Kit” Scott Hambley; his brother Richard “Cooter” (Bobbie) Hambley; his children: Vicki Derman, Christopher Hambley (Sandra Smith) and Randy (Julie) Hambley; his grandchildren: Amber Mabry, Tori Whitman, Peyton Hambley, Ally (Jacob) Harris, and Kaitlyn (Brenden) Murray; great granddaughter, Loxley; and his beloved dog, “Lady.”
There will be a celebration of Sherrill’s life on Monday, November 24, 2025 at Bell Funeral Home Sumiton Chapel at 2:00pm, with the visitation beginning one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Midway Cemetery, Adamsville, AL. Greg George will officiate.
