Funeral service for Thomas Owen Bagley, age 94, of Fayetteville, TN, will be held at 11am on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at Fayetteville First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Bruce McVey officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 4pm until 6pm on Monday, April 15, 2024, at Higgins Funeral Home.

Tom was born November 16, 1929, in Fayetteville, TN, to the late Charles Frank and Jimmie Margaret Higgins Bagley. He served in the US Naval Reserves and obtained both his Bachelor’s degree and then his Doctorate in Jurisprudence from Washington & Lee University. In 1953 he returned home to Fayetteville and entered into private practice with Robert W. Stevens and was part of the firm Stevens, Bagley, and Stevens until his retirement in 2002. Mr. Bagley served as Fayetteville City Attorney for over 41 years, State Representative 1959-1960, judge of Fayetteville’s Municipal Court, member and president of the Tennessee Bar Association, Fayetteville-Lincoln County Bar Association, and numerous boards and committees over the years on both the local and state level.

Mr. Bagley was a lifelong member of the Fayetteville First Presbyterian Church and served as deacon, elder, and trustee of the church. He loved his community and enjoyed serving others. Mr. Bagley passed away April 12, 2024, at NHC Maury Regional in Columbia, TN.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Peggy Moyers Bagley; son, Tom Bagley, Jr. and his wife Lynn; daughter, Lee Ann Dawkins and her husband Harold; grandchildren, Katy (Matt) Barrett, Owen (Lauren) Bagley, William (Rebecca) Bagley, Lauren (Erick) Navarrete, Shane (Cortney) Dawkins, Lauren (Joey) Northern; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Dawkins, Taylor Dawkins, Hadley Northern, Lyla Northern, Bea Barrett, Tommy Bagley, Jake Barrett, Renna Bagley, Annie Bagley, and Scout Navarrete; and many extended family members. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bagley was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Bagley and Joe Bagley.
