Thomas Ottis Thigpen, age 78, of Loretto, Tenn. (formerly of Lexington, Ala.), passed away Sunday, March 3, 2013, at Maury Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
Mr. Thigpen was a native of Lauderdale County, Ala., retired from the U. S. Army having served in Korea and two tours in Vietnam and of the Baptist Faith.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Loretto Memorial Chapel. Ricky Green and Sammy Wallace will be officiating. Burial will follow in Nebo Cemetery with full military honors at his graveside.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at Loretto Memorial Chapel.
Survivors are three brothers, U. D. Thigpen and wife, Helen, Greenhill, Ala., Wayne Thigpen and wife, Faye, Loretto, Tenn., Gerald Thigpen and wife, Rozell, Loretto, Tenn.; one sister, Jean Green and husband, Carl, Rogersville, Ala.; several nieces; and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by parents, Shakum and Roenie Hammond Thigpen; one brother, Dalton Thigpen; one sister, Geneva Elledge.
