Thomas Merritt “Tommy” Hughes, age 78 of Murfreesboro, TN passed away September 26, 2019. Retired from the Army National as a Chief Warrant Officer Four after 38 years, serving 35 years as Full Time Support. Preceded in death by parents, Edward W. and Margaret E. Keen Hughes and brother, Robert K. Hughes. Survived by: life companion, Monica D. Kowalski of Murfreesboro, TN; son, Christopher Troy (Lori) Hughes of Columbia, TN; daughter, Amy Ruth Pratt of Kentucky; brother, Edward R. “Butch” (Jean) Hughes of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Faith Marie Hughes, Michael Tyler Hughes, Emma Ramsey Pratt and Jackson Pratt and the Kowalski Family. Special thanks to caregiver, Jennifer Belleza and Christi Long with Alive Hospice. Funeral services will be conducted 12:30 PM Monday, September 30, 2019 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, Wally Whidby officiating. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Albert, Michael Fain, Randy Hudgens, Ricky Lowe, Terry Secrest and Tyler Hughes. Memorials may be made to Williamson Medical Center Children’s Hospital or American Lung Association.
