Thomas Lynn "Tommy" Hicks Funeral Services for Mr. Thomas Lynn “Tommy” Hicks, age 71 of Ashland, were held on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Olive Branch Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Richie Farrow officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at the Ashland City Cemetery.

Mr. Hicks passed away on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at the Clay County Hospital. Born in Talladega, Mr. Hicks spent most of his life as a resident of Clay County. After graduating from Clay County High School, He entered into the U.S. Army and trained as an X-ray technician where he served over 25 years. Upon retirement, he continued to serve as an X-ray technician with the State of Alabama for 41 years. Tommy and Bob Steele started the Clay County Car Show, bringing classic cars and multiple vendors to Clay County for 34 years, raising thousands of dollars for the Greenville Shriners Hospital for children. He was a 33 degree Mason and Shriner, was a Trustee for the Clay County Board of Education, collected and helped design classic cars and attended other car shows regularly. Mr. Hicks retired from the military as a Sergeant First Class and was a member and deacon at Olive Branch Baptist Church.

Mr. Hicks is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mona Walker Hicks of Ashland; two daughters: Summer Birchfield (Jason) of Leeds and Winter Seals (Ryan) of Ashland; one son, Jacob Hicks (SueAda) of Roanoke; five grandchildren: Brighton Birchfield, Addyson Adams, Aria Hicks, Curtis Seals, Ruby Hicks; one brother, Billy Hicks (Betty) of Talladega; and a large extended family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John Mortimer Hicks and Ruby Lee Lackey Hicks, and one sister, Mary John Hicks.

Active Pallbearers will be: Howard Williams, Dale Bradford, Chris Smith, Chris Haynes, Bryan Amason, Russell Anderson, Rick Roberts, and Brad Loveless.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Ronnie Williams, Lowell Bowen, Bob Steele, Ricky Jones, and Timmy Knight.

The visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Olive Branch Baptist Church from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM and from 10 A.M until service time at the church on Wednesday.
