Thomas Lynn Dunn, 83, of Huntsville, AL passed away on Wednesday, September 16th. He was a loving husband of 61 years, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. The youngest of three children, Tom was born in Rock Falls, IL to Virgil and Frances Dunn and grew up in Janesville, WI. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire majoring in Physics, he began a career with IBM and relocated to Huntsville, AL. Contracted to NASA, he worked on the Saturn V program where he met his future wife, Lenore Farrell. Later, Tom started his own software consulting company, Comsult Inc.
Tom and Lenore were married in October of 1965 and built an incredible life together. They set an example of a loving marriage for their children and grandchildren. As a father and grandfather, he instilled the values of taking care of your loved ones and respecting others. He made sure they knew the importance of honesty, integrity, and reliability by setting a strong example. He was recognized as someone who would drop everything to be there for anyone who needed him. His kitchen was always open for a cup of coffee, a scoop of ice cream, and some great advice.
Most recently, Tom was Lenore’s full-time caregiver. He was fully focused on taking care of her when she needed it most. In doing so, he became an example of selflessness and love for all of his family and friends.
His hobbies and interests included boating on the Tennessee River, traveling, running, clockwork refurbishment, woodworking, and reading. He was a lifelong learner by maintaining acumen on current affairs, physics, programming, and other areas of technology.
Tom is survived by his wife, Lenore Farrell Dunn; four children, Patty (Joe) Demos of Huntsville, AL, Greg (Traci) Dunn of Huntsville, AL, Angie Dunn of Broomfield, CO, and Terry (Kelly) Dunn of Bloomington, IL; twelve grandchildren, Geren (Meredith) Dunn, TJ (Carly) Demos, Payton (Rachel) Demos, Aubrey (Dustin) Morrow, Mickey (Anna Beth) Demos, Aidan Moss, Marley Dunn, Ryan Demos, Nora Moss, Owen Moss, Emma Dunn, and Adam Dunn; seven great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews, and a large extended family.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Frances Dunn; and his brothers, Ken and Chuck Dunn.
A celebration of life will be held from 4:00pm to 7:00pm on Sunday, September 20th at Tom and Lenore’s home.
