Thomas Leon “Mutt” Montgomery, 81, of Leighton, Ala., passed away on Oct. 25, 2012, after an extended illness.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Martha Copeland Montgomery, of 57 years; a daughter, Janice Amos and husband, Donny; sons, Larry Montgomery and wife, Debbie, of Russellville, Gary Montgomery, of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; grandchildren, Scotty Amos and wife, Lesley, of Shreveport. La., Rory Amos, Josh Amos, and wife, Danielle, of Russellville, Amanda Amos Benard and husband, Chris, of Dallas, Texas; great-grandchildren, Christopher and Tyler Amos, Addison Amos, of Russellville, Ala., Reagan and David Amos, of Shreveport, La.;

brothers, Willard and wife, Ludie, and James Eural and wife, Carolyn;

sisters, Jeanette Mayfield and Betty Lindsey;

special friends, Mary Gillentine and Bud and Shirley Coan.

He was preceded in death by parents, Earl and Etta Montgomery; sister, Annie; brother, DeWayne; and infant son, Thomas Montgomery.

He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in Germany. He retired after 36 years from the casthouse at Reynolds Alloy. He and his family owned and operated Discount Carpets of Russellville. He was a member of the Church of Christ, worshipping with Tharptown Church of Christ.

Visitation will be Saturday, Oct.27, 2012, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Funeral service will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Colbert Memorial Chapel, officiated by Frank Richey and Shane McGregor. Burial will be at Old Bethel Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Scotty Amos, Rory Amos, Josh Amos, Denton Copeland, Eric Montgomery, Bennie Grissom and Johnny McDussa.

Honorary Pallbearers are Terry Mayfield, Dwight Montgomery, Steve Hester, John Montgomery and Rudy Trevino.
