Thomas Hudson Wicks Sr., a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on June 18, 2025, in Huntsville, Alabama after a long and challenging battle with illness. He was 68 years old.
Born on November 25, 1956, in Scottsboro, Alabama, Tom—known for his larger-than-life personality and silliness—was someone who never met a stranger. His jokes were endless, and his laughter left an imprint on everyone lucky enough to know him.
Tom had a deep love for music and a passion for playing the guitar. Among his many gifts, he had a natural gift for making people feel seen and loved, often giving nicknames to those closest to him—small tokens of affection that spoke volumes about his big heart.
As a die-hard Alabama football fan, Tom loved cheering on the Crimson Tide. Tom loved having a home cooked meal, and spending time outdoors. He was a devoted Christian man who lived with faith, heart, and a strong sense of compassion.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Shirley Boyd Schuerman and John Thomas Wicks. He is survived by his loving children, Thomas Hudson Wicks Jr., Heather Barker, and Natalie Wicks; his cherished grandchildren, Darian Williams, Leigha Wicks, and Olivia Brown; his brothers, Hugh Boyd Wicks (Elizabeth Anne Wicks) and James Kyle Wicks; his nieces, Jo Beth Williford (Matt Williford) and Anna Wicks; great niece, Charlotte Anne Williford; and a hand full of lifelong friends who will always remember him as a man full of laughter, loyalty, and warmth.
Though his journey was difficult, Tom never lost his humor or his spirit. His family finds comfort knowing that he is now at peace—his fight over, his soul at rest, and his melody is still playing in the hearts of those who loved him.
