Thomas Hillman “Tom” Harrington, Jr., 77, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at North Mississippi Medical Center, Hospice Unit. He was born January 4, 1941, to his late parents, Hillman and Tot Harrington, in Chickasaw Country. He graduated from Houston High School in 1958 and Itawamba Junior College in 1960. He was an active member of Harrisburg Baptist Church and spent his working career as a grocery broker. Tom enjoyed showing horses and raising livestock.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Paula Harrington; two sons, Russ Harrington and his wife, Deanna and Justin Harrington and his wife, Kathy; one daughter, Julie Newby and her husband, Steve; four grandchildren, Ben and Sam Harrington and Alaina and Brianna Newby; one brother, G. W. Harrington and his wife, Dorothy; one sister-in-law, Beth Atkinson; one niece, Leigh Anne Puckett; three nephews, Rick, Steve and John Atkinson. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Dr. Forrest Sheffield officiating. Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at Bethel Cemetery in Woodland, Mississippi with Tom’s cousin, Hank Harrington, officiating.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo
Pallbearers will be Ben Harrington, Sam Harrington, Steve Newby, Rhettford Puckett, David Ray and Glenn Shelton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Clark, Danny Gattis, Sid Dendy, Kenny Davis and Mike Colbert.
