Thomas Glen Cardwell, 69, of Scottsboro, Alabama, passed away on May 25, 2026.
Born in Harvey, Illinois, to Mary Lou and Sherman Cardwell, Thomas was known for his deep love of Alabama football and Atlanta Braves baseball, and for the devotion he showed to his children and grandchildren. He was a proud father and a doting grandfather whose family meant everything to him.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters Carolyn (Knox) Bray and Patsy Cardwell; his brother William Cardwell; and his granddaughter Kaleigh Cooper.
He is survived by his children: Jeffrey Cardwell, Amy (Jacob) Waits, and Kelly (Chris Cooper) Griggs. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Nicholas Anders, Adam Cooper, and Annabella Cooper, each of whom brought him immense joy.
Funeral services will be held at Scottsboro Funeral Home, with Brother James Ledwell officiating. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, May 27, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 28, at 2:00 p.m.
Thomas’s legacy lives on in the family who loved him deeply and in the memories they will carry forward — of ballgames shared, stories told, and the steady love of a father and grandfather who meant the world to them.
