Thomas Edward Almon, 87, of Florence, passed away Monday, May 13, 2024, at his residence.  Thomas was a graduate of Coffee High School where he played football and basketball.  He attended Florence State University and Auburn University. While at Florence State University, he was an ROTC sharp shooter.  He loved sports and attended approximately 1000 games in person watching his grandchildren.  Thomas was an avid hunter and sportsman and spent many happy years at the cabin in Tennessee with his family. He was also a devoted Red Cross Volunteer for 20 years.

Visitation will be Friday, May 17, 2024, at Greenview Funeral Home, from 12-2:00 p.m. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Greenview Memorial Park.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Edward Almon, Sr. and Merle Almon; and sister, Joanna Hollis.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years who was also his high school sweetheart, Sarah Jo Bruce Almon; son, Bruce Almon (Tracey); daughters, Brenda Morton (Jim) of Sardis City, AL and Amy McCormack (Mike) of Birmingham, AL; sisters, Ellen Almon and Linda Stephens (Gary); grandchildren, Dr Daniel Almon (Ashley), Dr. Andrew Almon (Carrie), Samuel Almon (Chloe McLeary), Shaun McCormack (Lacy), and Katie McCormack; great grandchildren, Ian Thomas Almon, Ruby Almon, Avery Almon, Riley Almon, Sophia Almon, and Carson McCormack.

Pallbearers will be Dr. Daniel Almon, Dr. Andrew Almon, Samuel Almon, Shaun McCormack, Jody Hollis, and Ed Grissom.

Honorary pallbearers are Price Harrison and the late Billy Joe Kennedy.
