Thomas E. “Dooley” Phillips, 86 of Sumiton, passed away Sept. 6, 22 at his residence.
Mr. Phillips attended Sumiton Church of God. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean War era. He was well known for having been a member of numerous Gospel singing quartets. He was an Alabama football fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cannie and Flora Phillips and his siblings, Norman Phillips, Jo Helen Haynes, Jean Hobson, Faye Muncher and infant brother, Jerry Phillips.
Survivors include his wife, Brynda Phillips, children, Byron Phillips (Shelia), Sondra Phillips, Shelley Rizzo and David Phillips (Mabry); grandchildren, Lea, Kathryn and Chase Rizzo and Maddux Phillips; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Graveside services and interment will be Thursday Sept. 8, 22 at 2:00 pm in New Horizon Memorial Gardens. Rev. Larry Martin will officiate. Visitation is Thursday 1-2 pm.
