Thomas D. Benson, Lawrenceburg, TN Age 84 Passed away Saturday August 27th 2016. He was an Air Force Veteran, a graduate of the University of Tennessee, and the YMCA/ Nashville School of Law where he earned the distinction of Alumni of the Year.
He spent most of his career in Tennessee State Government where he rose to Commissioner of Revenue and Commissioner of Economic and Community Development playing a large role in bringing Nissan to Tennessee. He ended his work career in charge of Government Relations in three states for CSX Transportation.
He retired to his home place as a gentleman farmer and a Gideon; active in prison ministry and God’s Storehouse.
He was preceded in death by his Father, Robert Millard Benson, Mother, Nell Kitchen Benson, and Sister, Sue Boston.
He is survived by his Wife, Mary White Benson, Sister Ethel Young Benson, Daughter Kathleen Benson Carr (Rick), Son David Benson (Diane). Grandchildren Tyler Benson, Bailey Benson, Leslie Carr, Jeff Carr. Great Grandchildren, Abigail Carr, Aiden Roney and Olivia Carr.

Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 3:00 PM Wednesday, August 31, 2016, with Billy Beal officiating. Interment will be private.
