Theodore (Ted) Elsberry passed away on March 25th, 2021. He was born on October 26th, 1934. He is preceded in death by his wife, Dean Elsberry, his Mother, Father, Brother and Sisters. He leaves behind two sons, Terry (Bea) and Jason (Dawn); two grandsons, Tyler Elsberry and Landon Elsberry; one great grandson, Graham Elsberry and many nieces and nephews.

Ted was a proud father. He supported his sons, not only in their sporting events, but in all matters of their lives. He loved all his boys. When Tyler came along, he retired so Terry and Bea would never have to have a babysitter. He would drive from Gadsden to see him play ball, even if it was just a Tee Ball game. Seventeen years later, when Landon was born, although not able to provide the babysitting service as much, he was ever present in his life. Later, he moved to Birmingham and lived with Terry and Bea. Jason and Dawn took him on every vacation and would always find a way to get him to Landon’s games. Ted was his biggest supporter. In the last three years, his mind failing him, he would always ask “where is that baby?”, meaning Graham. He loved to watch him play and would sit for hours watching him play with his action figures or drawing with chalk in the driveway. Every day he wanted to know if the kids were coming that day and would be so disappointed if he would have to wait another day. On any gathering of the family a picture would always be taken of all the Elsberry Men. He loved all those pictures and any pictures that included his family. They are on every table and wall. Ted loved Auburn Football. He coached Pee Wee Football at Striplin Elementary for many years. He served in Korea with the Marine Corps and was retired from Gulf State Steel and LTV.

The family will receive friends and family at Collier-Butler Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 30th from 10 until 11. A private burial will follow at Crestwood Cemetery.

Special thanks to Home Instead, Expect Care and Bea Elsberry for all their wonderful care.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to your favorite charity is a wonderful way to celebrate Ted’s life.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.collier-butler.com for the Elsberry family.
