Robbery Suspect Charged With Attempted Murder After Firing On Deputies

MORGAN COUNTY-The Morgan County Sheriff’s Department issued a statement concerning the arrest of a suspect who was a suspect in the theft of a car.  The suspected car thief shot at deputies with a semiautomatic rifle during a chase Monday morning and has been charged with attempted murder.
“Investigators have identified the subject that fired a semi-automatic rifle at Deputies during an early morning pursuit as Eric Scott Thomas, 29 of Falkville.
Thomas was located hiding under a residence on Wilson Mountain Rd after crashing the vehicle. Thomas was apprehended by K9 Deputy Gator and arrested at the scene.

▪️32-5A-112(B) – Traffic-Fail Stop Sign – Pending – 3 counts
▪️13A-10-52 – Attempting to Elude a Police Officer (Misdemeanor)
▪️13A-10-41 – Resisting Arrest
▪️32-5A-190 – Traffic-RD Reckless Driving
▪️13A-12-260 – Unlawful Possession Drug Paraphernalia (1st Offense)
▪️13A-12-214 – Dangerous Drugs-POM 2 Possession of Marijuana
The subject was treated at the scene and transported by ambulance to Decatur Morgan Hospital before being booked into the Morgan County Jail. No bond.”
