Thearl O. Craven – Obituary

A graveside service for Thearl O. Craven, age 84 of Lineville, will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Clay County Memory Gardens.

Mr. Craven passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at his residence. Born in Randolph County, but having lived most of his life in Clay County, he was a self-employed carpenter and worked in the maintenance department for the City of Ashland from 1993 until 2007. He attended Cheaha Ministries for over 35 years. He loved to fish, golf, work in his yard and garden, play dominoes, and go out to eat.

He is survived by his wife of over 64 years, Ruby Jo Luker Craven of Lineville; one son, Gary Craven (Tracy) of Lineville; one grandchild, Jackson Craven; one sister, Dean Craven Edwards of Roanoke and one brother, Pervis Craven (Anna Laura) of Lineville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Shafford Craven and Minnie Hill Craven, two sisters: Louise Craven Estes and Lannie Gay Farrow, and one brother, Curtis Craven.

Pallbearers will be Irvin Thompson, Brett Thompson, Mike Craven, Eddie Farrow, Josh Nelson, and Charles “Skip” Sims.

There will be no public visitation prior to the graveside services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cheaha Ministries, 166 County Road 8023, Lineville, AL 36266. Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville in charge of arrangements.
