ATHENS-Friday April 29th show was held at the Limestone County Event Center due to the unfortunate bad weather. Although the weather was rainy and a strong possibility of severe weather threatened, nearly 100 people came to support the event.
Our first show featured Miss Lillian Glanton, the 16 yr. old West Limestone High School contestant on American Idol, and a country/bluegrass band from Lawrence County, known as Wade Oliver and the “Good O’ Boys”. Seems like the audience really enjoyed both shows.
We, at the Athens Visitor’s Center would like to thank you for your support.
Though we are planning for our “Singing on the Square” events to be on the east side of the Limestone County Courthouse steps, we do have an alternate venue. The Vietnam Veterans have graciously permitted us to use their facility in the event of bad weather, and we are happy and grateful for this.
Remember this is always free to everyone. Don’t forget our next show will be on May 20th at 6:00pm featuring a local young lady Cheryl Llewellyn, then at 7:00pm the Dixie Bluegrass Boys, more local and a well known band in the area will finish the evening. There will be 2 hours filled with clapping and toe tapping fun. SO BRING YOUR LAWN CHAIRS AND BLANKETS AND YOUR WATER BOTTLE FOR LOTS OF FUN.
