SHEFFIELD-Well The Slag was a smashing success…although the weather wanted to say otherwise it came off with almost no problems, other than a little rain, and lightening on the second night the music was smokin’ and the crowd was rockin’ to the beat of some great music.
The venue is a wonderland at night plenty of food and drinks and it is only going to get better! The music on Friday night brought down the house with the Pine Hill Haints starting it off and getting the crowd in a foot stomping mood. Then Lucero with their rockin’ Southern style rock brought the show home. The weather was warm and on this Friday night the music was hot.
On Saturday….well Mother Nature wanted to get in on the act with some wind, rain and thunder and lightening…but the show went on acoustic style with Langhorne Slim playing a rowdy-fun filled set under the tent…up close and personal followed by Drew Holcomb and some of his Friends under the big top playing the crowds favorites as they shouted out what they wanted. The weekend was filled with excitement for the open-air venue and the awesome tunes being played by four great bands.
All in all The Slag is going to be a Destination Point and the beginning of good things for Sheffield and The Sholas as Inspiration Landing begins in earnest.

They signed with Capricorn Records and released their first album in 1973, The Marshall Tucker Band.
