MUSCLE SHOALS-Northwest Shoals Community College (NWSCC) continues to expand workforce development and work-based learning opportunities for students. During the 2024-2025 academic year, NWSCC provided professional skills training to more than 2,300 students, a 70% increase from the previous year, while working with more than 400 industry and community partners.

Through apprenticeships and work-based learning, students can combine classroom instruction with paid, on-the-job training while earning industry-recognized credentials and associate degrees. NWSCC currently offers apprenticeship opportunities in programs including Industrial Maintenance (FAME), HVAC, and Machining, with additional programs in development for Welding and Diesel Technology.

With work-based learning available through more than 50 industry partners, NWSCC continues to connect students with hands-on experience while helping build a strong workforce pipeline for The Shoals. We’re proud to highlight the work NWSCC is doing to prepare students for future career opportunities and strengthen our local workforce.
