The Shoals Chamber of Commerce to Hold High School Career Fair & Job Skills Seminar

opportunity_boulevardFLORENCE – The Shoals Chamber of Commerce will partner with
the Lauderdale County Alabama Cooperative Extension office to host its annual career
fair for Shoals-area eleventh graders. The event will be held on April 21 at CrossPoint
Church of Christ in Florence.
Students will have the opportunity to speak with more than fifty exhibitors, representing
employers and educational institutions, to learn about a variety of career pathways and
how to prepare for the workforce.
“We’re looking for local employers to participate in this year’s career fair to help educate
and influence the Shoals area’s future workforce. It’s free to participate and invaluable to
the students that attend,” said the Shoals Chamber of Commerce Vice President ofshoals chamber of commerce
Workforce Readiness, Stephanie Newland. “These students will be the entry level
workforce in just two or three years. We want them to be prepared for when that time
comes.”
In addition to the career fair, students will also have the opportunity to participate in job
skills seminars. Business and community volunteers will speak to the students about
nwscc northwest shoals community college featuredinterviewing skills, resume writing, social media etiquette and how to dress for success.
Sponsors and partners of this event include Northwest-Shoals Community College, Wells
Fargo Foundation, Listerhill Credit Union, Alabama Cooperative Extension System –
Lauderdale County office, CrossPoint Church of Christ and Lauderdale RSVP.
