SHEFFIELD/TUSCUMBIA-The annual Walk of Life from Tuscumbia Landing to Spring Park was held on Saturday, September the 9th. This annual event, which began in 2002, honors those Native Americans forced to leave their Ancient Home Lands on the Trail of Tears; encourages forgiveness, inspires unity, and celebrates life. Before departing from Tuscumbia Landing to Spring Park there is a prayer and the Hanging Of Feathers in remembrance of loved ones gone by and to honor our ancestors.
The Walk was well attended and the Quad Cities Daily was on hand to be a part of the walk and of the ritual of the Hanging Of The Feathers.
